Web Design
Prerequisites: None

Description: Students will learn the basics of web design using HTML and various web editing and photo editing software. Students will design various web pages and learn web etiquette and language. Students will learn basic HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Dynamic HTML. They will also learn basics of design and its effect on their pages. This course can be used to fulfill one semester of the Technology requirement.
Graphic Design
Prerequisites: None

Description: Graphic Design is a one semester course that introduces the concepts of graphic design. The students use various desktop publishing programs to produce magazine/newspaper type articles, programs, advertisements and other documents. The semester is divided into two halves, the first dealing mainly with type and layout design and the second with computer illustration and photo manipulation. The course requires that students develop skill in conceptualizing an idea and transferring it to a completed product by completing a series of projects. This course can be used to fulfill one semester of the Technology requirement.
Stained Glass
Prerequisite: Fundamentals of Art
Credit: .5
Description: This semester course is designed to teach the fundamentals of making a stained glass window. It fulfills a 1/2 art credit. This class allows students the opportunity to learn a skill that can be applied to other art fields-such as design and color theory.
Advanced Art I
Prerequisite: Fundamentals of Art & Department Approval
Credit: .5
Description: This semester course builds basic drawing skills using a variety of media and techniques including charcoal, pencil, conte, and pen and ink. Students will study perspective, line, value, and composition. Course includes demonstrations, class critiques and a field trip.
Advanced Art II
Prerequisite: Advanced Art I & Department Approval
Credit: .5
Description: This semester course involves skills learned in Fundamentals and Advanced Art I. You will take the skills you have learned and apply them to various forms of mixed media and basic design, including collage, 3-dimensional work, colored paper, and incorporating every day items into art. Students will study basic design, color theory, space, and advanced design. Course includes demonstrations, class critiques and a field trip.
Art History
Prerequisite: Fundamentals of Art
Credit: .5
Description: This course will offer a broad overview of the evolution of art from numerous cultures and time periods. The students will learn an appreciation as well as an understanding of the importance of art in the various cultures, and will understand the place of art as a way to document time and historical events. The course will focus more on the time period of the Renaissance to present day.
Fundamentals of Art
Prerequisite: None
Credit: .5
Description: This semester course is designed to give students general instruction to aesthetics and studio art. Students will explore two dimensional art through drawing and design as well as painting. Three dimensional design will be explored through clay sculpture. Some Art History topics are covered. Students will go on a field trip to an art museum.
